Vdmx-Live video mixing

Unit 11, a Durban based club approached me and asked if i would be interested in Vj-ing.
Having been presented with this opportunity, i downloaded a free version of VDMX which enables one to mix videos to live sets of music.

Ive only been working on the program for a week, and it has really exciting features whereby you can add a multitude of effects and layers.
I quite like the idea of being able to create a diverse visual aesthetic using a collection of different footage.

Another aspect of V-jing brings me closer to looking at it as a way of recycling.
This brings me back once again to the concept of mash-ups.
I like the idea of mixing and matching diverse elements of media, each time creating a new and varied visual aesthetic.

In addition this has allowed me to revisit a number of collected memories that I had temporarily abandoned. These visuals can be manipulated as complete contrasts, or just other ways to create interesting textures.

I think this may be the beginning of a new exciting extra mural activity.
I think im just going to mash things up and see what happens.

This may also be an additional way to keep the mashup concept alive, an additional way to channel and manipulate content into new context.
