I shot the second scene for the stop motion at Durban bay using the side section along the marine parade of the city as the backdrop…..
The traveling suitcase leads the way into the bay at low tide.
I let spontaneity take control, but the scene got a bit morbid as 3 soldiers take a barbie doll hostage. It wouldn't be far from any ordinary day in South Africa but thats not really how i planned on Interpreting durban.
Unfortunately the scene with the soldiers on the suitcase was a failure as the suitcase sunk faster than i could shoot it.
I think the idea of using a random selection of objects set in the heart of the Durban highlighting aspects of the city at the same time is what im trying to achieve.
Ive trashed Scene two and am experimenting with overlaying real time footage with the stop motion imagery…..
Im not sure how Im going to wrap this up but im aiming for a happier ending.
