Ive spoken about this artists work before, but i was not aware of her name, nor the title of her works, therefore i have denied her of the credibility she deserves.
I am really blown away by her use of borrowed objects and the way in which these objects are appropriated.
Atlanta based artist, Erika Iris simians, uses recycled cassette tapes and film reels,in her series titled "Ghosts in the machine" turning them into composite portraits of famous musicians.
To me what is strikingly different from other artists, that define their work as recycled, is the innovative and conceptual thinking behind her work.
