We have been invited to exhibit some jewellery pieces inspired by VetKat, a bushmen fine artist who lives in the Khalahari.
Looking at some of his drawingsI was inspired by the meandering branches of the trees . I set out to design some silver earrings for the exhibition using sterling silver which i forged into a stylised tree shape. I played around cutting out disc shapes of tyre rubber to set in the backround.
Im happy with the way things turned out but was a little dissapointed when i realised they are a bit to heavy for earrings. Ive glass brushed one of them, and will now be using them as two separate pendants.I will have to find something to hang them on.
I think im going to make a few more pieces with a slightly different approach.Their seems to be a synergy between illustration and poetry.
Id like to use letter punches to create texture, that might create a visual overlay creating that existing synergy of poetry and illustration.
