What started with Songeza giving me a heatsink evolved into a playfull experiment which lead me to explore the interesting sounds which existed within it, of which i recorded and made a track.
I included a some basic electronic beats which i cut and arranged into a sequence.
On friday nite i spontaneously played the song to my friend Marcel ( fellow left handed creative).
We created a new layer and Marcel was quick to add a new layer.
Pulling out his lighter we recorded the sound of the flint sound, at certain intervals.
Next thing a new layer was created and Marcel had a stainless steel tin, which was once my dogs bowl until i recontextulised its purpose into a crash cymbal for my "meditation percussion". We used a pencil with a rubber end to strike the bowl which created a more interesting longer panning echo, with a less tinny sound.
Then looking around the room i found a piece of A B S signage.
Another layer was created and whilst bending the sign rapidly back and forth it created the sound of bubbles.....
So things evolved from playfull experimentation in the name of Fun on a friday nite.
Its interesting to see how such simple elements can be reused in such versatile ways.
Musically im exploring sounds that i can re use for samples in the same way i am exploring old materials to create new things.
My intention was to upload the track onto sound cloud but after remastering the entire track, my trusty Mac crashed. Oh well! ,I will have to re work it, Atleast i took a photo.
