What if one identifies with objects, or materials purely on an aesthetic level, and they at the same time are perceived as recycled?
I would not deny the idea, or the natural due course of recycling.
An ever increasing manner of selling Green, recycled or sustainable products sadly seems to stem, from playing on peoples emotions and inducing a sense of guilt.
Green this, recycled that! Eco friendly mind numbing, and over exaggerated, strap lines to get the attention of the consumer.
Its a sad world that we live in.
Its a pity that since the inception of the green wave to the present, the mass mindsets answer to recycling, is to produce mindless products regardless of any real thought process, and then at the end of it have the means or justification to call it recycled.
So as I'm gathering more and more evidence based on the choice of materials i work with, I have these impending questions that i am constantly grappling with?
Am i doing this because i want to save the Earth. Of course i want to save the Earth!or at least be conscious and sensible regarding my actions towards preserving the environment from with which i exist.
So how am i involved in this "Green revolution"?
How do my motivations stem towards reducing my impact on the environment?
I don't think that was ever my intention, but through trial and correction, and inner reflection.I would like to think that that it was something that came to be through natural progression. Im doing it already.
Identifying with objects for their individualistic and narrative qualities may just be one of the motivations underpinning the free flow nature of this creative process.
I like the idea of creating things for individuals, who might set aside from the mindset of main stream consumerism.
So what should i call Change Room now?
Perhaps it's a sustainable brand, thats guilt free paying attention to aesthetics.
Individual raw representations of our humanity through the resurrection of objects.
What should you call it now? You've already nailed it:
ReplyDeleteResurrection.
