Two days before hand in whilst helping set up for the Vetkat Exhibition at the History museum in westville, fellow Jewellery designer Songeza, pointed out what seemed to be a shallow grave, toward the back end of the property.
It wasnt a shallow grave, but it could of been.
It was a kind of refuse area, which housed bins and discarded elements.
it was a bit more exciting than your general dumpsite, and had two un identifiable vintage artefacts.
I could just make out that the one object looked like a type of machine that may have been an old cash register.
As i got closer i noticed the key pad detail, they were the last remaining remnants that seemed to have lasted through its lifes course.
I pulled off the keys, and thought about the possibillity making a few pairs of earrings using the keys.
I thought i could add to the body of work inwhich i was submitting for the green exhibition.
The keys were interesting in shape and texture. They had the mimicking visual qualities of bone.
It feels as if the spontaneity of the find is driving the will to recreate.
Hey Glenn ... It seems to me that you should do more writing where you say how you feel and what you think... Some valuable flavours are starting to emerge... do some more free writing about your activities and let's see what comes out... Chris
